I just want to be able to have a corner on the internet where I can write aqbout all things that are running through my head (wasn’t that a song?). This is why I thought to give something back to people, so I’ve set up my personal free blog host on this domain. This is why I’ve chosen to allow my members to keep 100% of their earnings. I’m not making any money of this blog host, but I’m having fun. Are you?

Competition is in our blood, so each time somebody launches a challenge, lots of people accept it. However, very few of them last to the end. A new challenge to make money online has been launched by Court and Mark at The Keyword Academy: Make money online with 100 Hubs in 30 days.

The idea is that contenstants will publish 100 hubs on Hubpages, then see who made the most money out of those hubs. Hubpages owner liked the idea and decided to take the challenge, so we are probably going to see some cool statt by the end of this month. The challenge started on May 12th, so it’s still time to join it, if you wish.

Starting today, we changed the rules for our revenue sharing program: bloggers get 90% of the revenue generated by their blogs on our network. The monetization programs available are Google AdSense, eBay and Kontera. In order to make them work, you have to enable them on each particular blog and input your details for the respective programs, so you can be credited with the earnings.

I remind you that the AdSense ads are displayed only to visitors coming from search engines, so you won’t be able to see them unless you search your blog, and get to it from the SERPs.

This is going to be a permanent change which we hope you’ll enjoy.

Knowing how to take on bad news is very important. We’ve got news for you, those news are not so good, but this is life: we’ve been de-indexed from Google. We don’t have a clue about why did that happen and how to change to situation, but these are the rules which are absolutely compulsory if you want to blog here:

All blogs in our network need to be family-safe. This means that each time you are about to hit “publish”, please take a moment and think if you’s show your blog post to your child or to your mother. If the answer is yes, then publish it. If no, please consider either changing the content or changing the blog hosting network.

We hate spam and automation. If you think you can use some software in order to create hundreds of users and thousands of blogs on our hosting service, you are wrong. We are manually checking all new users and all blogs created, and if we find somebody much more prolific than all other humans, we are going to delete the blogs and ban the user.

We don’t like robots who tell stories. Being aware that there is a common practice amongst bloggers to take PLR articles and spin them into some non-sense content stuffed with keywords, we are determined to keep this away from our network. We have staff paid to read your posts. Any non-sense posts will trigger that blog’s deletion with no warning. If the user insists in publishing more of that crap, he will be banned for ever. We want to provide a free service for people willing to write but not affording to buy their own hosting and domain names. We are not a spammers’ paradise, nor we intend to become one.

We strongly encourage you to read the Google Webmasters Guidelines and to make sure you stay in line with them. We want our bloggers to get visibility for their blogs. For this, we need search engines. We are proud to be listed in their index and we are determined to do our best to stay there and to advance in the SERPs for all relevant topics. This is why we don’t need spammers, black hatters or whatever other species of web black birds.

A blog with no readers is nothing. Even if you write the greatest tips in your niche, it still means nothing of people cannot find you. Websites are found in several ways. Only think how you are finding what interests you on the internet and you’ll get the whole idea.

Maybe the most important places for finding information are the search engines. They are huge software programs designed to categorize all content people make public on the web. The most known and the most used search engine is Google. It is so popular that the verb “to search on the internet” has become synonymous with “googling”. There’s no wonder that all webmasters care for Google’s indexing rules and they try to make their websites worth of Google’s attention. After all, we all want to be found.

Finding relevant photos to illustrate blog posts is one of the most time consuming tasks bloggers have to deal with. We help our bloggers to be more efficient by offering them the possibility to automatically fetch photos from Flickr and display them on their blogs, together with credits due to the photographers. We managed to do this thanks to a special plugin which allows you to search photos by relevant keywords. The plugin searches and shows you only those photos which are publishes under a Creative Commons license, meaning that you can publish them on non-commercial websites, provided that you give credit to the authors.

Attracting readers is the ultimate goal of all bloggers and webmasters in general. Everybody wants to have an audience. This is why we create our blogs in the first place, isn’t it? So, for getting more people to read your blog and to recommend it to their friends, you can try a few tricks that may be helpful:

Your blog posts should solve problems

Your readers are on your blog for a reason: they are seeking for a solution to a problem they have. If you show them a creative way of solving that, you gained them as your loyal audience. This means that you need to know what you are talking about. If you write about fishing although you’ve been afraid of the hook, and you never had the guts to touch the bait or the fish for all your life, then your readers will smell you. They are passionate fishermen, so you can’t actually serve them crap and ask them to swallow it quietly.

You have to stay as relevant as possible

photo credit: karpov the wrecked train

Rants are nice sometimes, but if you rant a lot, your readers will bet bored and leave your blog. This is why you need to stay on topic as much as you can. It is not bad that you express your personal take on news in your niche, but you have to be careful to balance the amount of information you give with the amount of peeves and rants you feel the need to publish.

As you’ve probably noticed, we are always updating the themes directory, so you have quite a rich choice of templates for your free blog with us. In order for you to get the most out of your blog, your theme needs to follow these rough guidelines:

The blog theme should be in line with the topics you write about. Don’t put a theme with birds on a blog about cats. Some readers may mistakenly think you are inviting all cats for dinner.

If you address older readers or visually impaired ones please make sure to choose a theme with big font size, so they can easily read your content. If you can’t find a suitable theme, contact us and we’ll prepare it for you.

If you want to get some revenue from your blog, make sure to display ads which are related to the content. Choose a theme that is suitable for displaying advertising.
